Projects
Many of our projects involve a variety of services, which in turn necessitates a strong interdisciplinary approach and operation of effective teams.
Natural Resource Planning established as a company in March 2008 and has since taken on a number of important natural resource planning and management projects, including:
- Forest Conservation Fund - Provision of GIS services and technical advice to the Commonwealth Government's Forest Conservation Fund. The project has involved system design data, processing, map preparation and conservation value reporting for around 200 Tasmanian private properties, with contract responsibilities to the Department of Environment, Heritage, Water and the Arts, KPMG, Tasmanian Land Conservancy and Department of Primary Industries and Water. This work has been used to underpin the allocation of many millions of dollars to private land conservation in Tasmania and the covenanting of around 20,000ha of land.
- NRM South - Natural Resource Planning has been involved in the provision of GIS Support Services to the organisations, including advice on data and information policy, strategic analysis of natural resource data and establishment of internal GIS operating systems.
- Parks and Wildlife Service - Natural Resource Planning has designed and implemented a comprehensive and integrated GIS data and analysis of natural values across seven themes - Freshwater, Geoconservation, Heritage, Priority Species, Threatening Processes, Vegetation and Wilderness - for some 800,000ha of Tasmania. This has been delivered in a stand alone database the provides for for reporting and mapping of some 380 conservation reserves and is being used to assist statutory zoning.
- Private landholders - Natural Resource Planning has a number of contracts with private landholders for the preparation of management plans addressing ecologically responsible management and Carbon storage and sequestration.
Natural Resource Planning's strength lies in the expertise and breadth of experience of its principals, who have been delivering NRM-related services through consulting and various employed positions for nearly three decades.
